The "busy schedule" continues, both in the water and in the hall
At the 2023 European Universities Badminton and Water Polo Championships in Miskolc, on July 16th, Sunday afternoon and evening were equally intense. In the water polo tournament dominated by the Hungarians, five more matches were played in the group stage, while the badminton players were still in the preliminary rounds for mixed doubles and men's singles.
During this knockout phase, 25 matches were played on six courts. Right from the start, a remarkable clash took place between representatives of the first and second-place teams in the team competition. They delivered exciting, dramatic, and spectacular matches, with the duo from University of Nottingham eventually celebrating a 2-1 victory.
Two Hungarian pairs, the mixed doubles teams from University of Pécs and University of Miskolc, were drawn against each other, leading to their matchup in the first round. The Pécsi duo, strengthened by the top-seeded individual player, Gonda Daniella, emerged victorious.
On July 17th, Monday morning, the mixed doubles and men's singles competitions will continue, alongside the commencement of the women's singles and men's and women's doubles events.
